The Fritillaria / Checkered Lily is a fragile and tiny flower, however, close-up photography reveals a strong impressive structure. It is a flower of illusion - from a distance it looks checkered but up close, a cluster of blobs. The lily shrouds the stamen with its bell-like petals with only a tease of yellow in view. Oh, how we are deceived by the gorgeous Fritillaria. Bx
